You're not a maverick

John McCain & Sarah Palin are not mavericks.

I was just reminded of something that is appropriate for John & Sarah given their claim of being mavericks.

It's from Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedys' "MTV Get Off The Air":

"You've got a lot of nerve to call yourself a pioneer when you're to god damn conservative to take real chances."

Debate of only 2 people?

What's wrong with this country where we need to have people represent us in our government and the recent "debates" only feature 2 of the candidates running for president and vice president? Granted, that these are the candidates presented are the most likely to win the race, but isn't that partly because they are the only candidates who are regularly presented as our choice in the bulk of the media and elsewhere?

It appears to me that the illusion of choice is at work here. Pick any of these 2 that you want is what is presented, but where are the other options for us?

I'm not as concerned about whether someone is a Washington D.C. insider or not, but I'm not going to vote for an outsider who is not knowledgeable, intelligent, or prepared to run for office, let alone hold the office of president or vice president. Yes, that means I will not be voting for McCain/Palin.

Obama has my vote for sure.

However, I'd like a better candidate than Obama, but I'm not sure who would be better.

It would be great to have lots of information about the other candidates who are running for office.

What are you protesting?!

What is the point of a protest if nobody knows what you are protesting or why?

Case in point. Location: In front of Apple Inc. Stores

A bunch of people in some sort of odd attire with a giant sign that says, "Apple Inc. Hires Rats."

These people and their signs were there for several days, and I have no idea what it is about. Is Apple hiring rats to test or program their technology? Do they test to see what happens when rats attack the machines? Do they try to see if rats will line up around the block to get another cell phone and have themselves sold to a giant telco? I doubt it.

What the heck does this mean?

They are not there today when I actually walked by one of the stores. Does this mean that Apple doesn't hire rats anymore?

Does Apple have a new product that is high resolution rats?

Should I care about a cause that can't even get their point across?

Certainly, the answer is "NO."

quick time rant

Your humble narrator has been extremely busy lately.

Is there enough time to rant about the scarcity of time? Actually there is.

I have enough time. I get as much time as everyone else. I'd like to blog more, but my priorities have been elsewhere lately.

Worry not, as I have been noticing so many things that deserve a good rant.

More to come.

A quick rant about pay phones

I had 2 minutes to arrive at the Caltrain Station, and therefore gave myself that much time to compose a rant and close up the computer. Mission accomplished. Ranting can be done anytime anywhere.

Rant on:

What happened to all the pay phones?

I guess the people who are too poor to have a cell phone are to be penalized again for not having enough money.

Hey, poor folks. Since the rich people can't make enough money off of pay phones, your poor ass is going to have to wait until you get home to make that call.

Even if it is an emergency.

Unless you can convince Richy Rich to loan you his phone.

You know how anxious the rich are to loan their cellphones to those who are far less fortunate. Not.

80's music

I can't take it anymore with the label "80's music!" These words, "80's music," are typically used as if the only music that was created or existed in the 1980's was the popular new wave-ish and "pop" songs of the period.

You know...Aha, Duran Duran, The Psychedelic Furs, and ABC. That stuff.

Hey, people. There was a lot more than that music released in the 1980's! And what about the 1880's and further back in time?
